چکیده

2014 We present an extensive light-microscopic study of mutual adhesion of egg (and dimyristoyl) lecithin bilayers in highly swollen samples, including adhesion brought about by osmotic inflation of vesicles. The lateral tensions associated with adhesion, if below ca. 3 x 10-4 dyn cm-1, could be read from a rounding of the membrane next to the contact area. The contact angle of symmetric adhesion, i.e. of two membranes under equal tension, had a maximum of 45°. While showing some scatter, it did not seem to depend on tension down to 3 x 10-6 dyn cm-1, the lowest tension observed. The maximum contact angle of single membranes adhering to bundles of membranes was near 70°. The data indicate that mutual adhesion of lecithin membranes is always induced by lateral tension. The constancy of the contact angles appears to be compatible with undulation theory, but their magnitude compels us to postulate an unknown, optically unresolvable roughness of lecithin membranes which serves as an area reservoir. Adhesion in egg lecithin multilayer systems produced by cooling

2014 Slightly hydrated egg lecithin was aligned mostly parallel to the glass plates of the sample cells by squeezing it to a thickness of 20 03BCm. The rest of the cell was filled with water and the lipid was left to swell at elevated temperatures to bilayer mean spacings between 3 and 17 nm. Cooling by a few °C gave rise to induced adhesion in the semicylindrical border (and myelin cylinders) ...

Comparison of Biocompatibility of Various Membranes with Fibroblasts

Objective: Different techniques have been suggested for the repair of bone defects at the injured sites. Use of biomembranes, or application of plasma rich in growth factor (PRGF) at the site of proliferation of osteoblasts are among the suggested techniques. The current study aimed to compare the biocompatibility of human periodontal ligament fibroblasts (hPLF) cultured on Hypro-Sorb F, Peri...

Surface tensions of embryonic tissues predict their mutual envelopment behavior.

During embryonic development, certain tissues stream to their destinations by liquidlike spreading movements. According to the 'differential adhesion hypothesis', these movements are guided by cell-adhesion-generated tissue surface tensions (sigmas), operating in the same manner as surface tensions do in the mutual spreading behavior of immiscible liquids, among which the liquid of lower surfac...

High Efficient Transparent TiO2 Nanotube Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells: Adhesion of TiO2 Nanotube Membrane to FTO by Two Different Methods

In order to fabricate transparent TiO2 nanotube dye-sensitized solar cells, anodically growth nanotube membranes are detached from Ti substrate by a re-anodization method. The membranes are transferred on FTO glass by two different methods. At the first one, 100mM Ti-isopropoxide is used to make TiO2 nanoparticles for adhering TiO2 nanotube membranes to FTO and ...
